Day 5

I ventured out alone to the grocery this morning. It was a very nice store. I was surprise to see SO many American products with American labels. For some reason, Dog Chow caught my eye. That just didn’t seem like something that would be imported.

The only thing I really miss is ice. Along with not drinking the water, it is suggested that you also not have ice in your drinks. I’m going to have a huge diet Coke with ice at the Atlanta airport!

Today is a quiet day for Sharon and AnnaMaria. We are hanging out in the hotel. She enjoyed watching the rodeo earlier with the Spanish commentary! She really likes music. Blanca (foster mom) said she likes to watch TV also, which apparently she does. I can see her in the recliner with her grandpas.

The more I get to know AnnaMaria the closer I feel to Blanca. I don’t think I could be a foster mom and I think it’s a wonderful gift for her to love our baby until we can take her home. When we initially met, we learned that Blanca has a grown son and daughter in their early twenties. There was no mention of a husband, so I guess it’s just Blanca and AnnaMaria. I bet she misses her this week. I just learned that the max number of foster kids per household is two. I thought that was a very responsible rule.

Blanca left her custody paperwork with us while we have AnnaMaria. It includes a photo of AnnaMaria’s birth mom. She looks very native, similar to Native Americans. We think she’s pretty. She was born the same year as Jeff and her birthday is June 29th, the same day as Claire & Ollie. There’s another one of those God-incidences!

The kids and Jeff are off to Antigua today. They left the hotel at noon with a driver/tour guide/translator. I can’t wait to hear about it and see the photos.
