Sorry I haven’t posted for a couple of days. Lily and I spent Friday morning packing and then we all traveled back to Guatemala City Friday afternoon. It was a long day getting back to Nashville on Saturday (weather delays, missed flight….). So finally on Sunday afternoon we are home again and the laundry is started!
We truly had a wonderful visit. AnnaMaria seemed to know something was “up” on Friday and Saturday morning. She wasn’t necessarily upset, but no doubt knew the situation was changing again.
The Marriott hotel was very nice, but we liked Antigua infinitely better. We felt much more a part of our surroundings in Antigua. Ollie completely enjoying the dining experiences! The food was very good and quite reasonable.
Sonia met us at the Marriott on Saturday morning to translate when AnnaMaria was picked up. Dona Aura and her daughter, Nancy, came to pick her up again without Blanca. Blanca is now also fostering a 3 month old boy. He has chicken pox, so Blanca stayed home with him. Nancy was really glad to get her hands on AnnaMaria again! Dona Aura had some surgery on her shoulder, so Nancy has been the primary care giver. They were very sweet and AnnaMaria was glad to go with them.
I asked Dona Aura if she was able to give our photo to AnnaMaria’s birth mom. On the last trip the birth mother (Rosario) had requested a photo of us and wanted to be sure we would provide a good home for our baby. Dona Aura said that she had not been able to give her the photo as Rosario had gone back to the village where she had grown up. However, she did speak with her and reported that she was very pleased when Dona Aura told her we were a good family. Hopefully we will get more information when our family court report is complete. We did learn that Rosario has four boys with the youngest being about 11.
I told Dona Aura we had received the notice of Pre-Approval. She seemed to think the rest of the process should take about two months. I contacted my case worker to find out if we were in PGN yet, but she said we are not out of family court yet. It has been two months. The guidelines from the agency say this usually takes 2 weeks to 2 months, but generally about 6 weeks. I’m following up to gather more info.
By the way…the 3 month old boy doesn’t have a home yet. I’m sure AnnaMaria would love for him to come home to live with some of our friends J
Leaving is tough, but we had a pretty tight schedule to get to the airport, so we didn’t have a lot of time to dwell on being sad.
Please pray for a quick entry and exit in PGN!
I will try to post more photos soon.
