Claire says....

Hello all. Claire here. This is my last night in Antigua, and I figured I’d fill everyone in on my summer.
For starters I speak Spanish now…kinda. I had Spanish lessons every weekday for 4 hours. It sounds like a lot, but it was fun. My teacher was great. Although lessons were fun and all, I had more fun after they were over…(imagine that!) Most afternoons we’d go out for lunch, and shop, and occasionally to the general market.
I have 3 favorite places in the world (all of which are in Antigua.) The General Market, Pollo Campero, and the Central Park. The General Market is like a huge black hole of stuff. It goes on forever. You can buy pretty much anything there, not kidding. My favorites are the DVD’s and CD’s. You can buy all the new movies still in theatres in the U.S., for like $2. (Most likely pirated…I’m a bad girl, I know.) They’ve got really good music too, they have all the artists we’ve got at home, and Latin music also. I’m hooked on Latin music here, which Lily hates, because she doesn’t understand any of it. It makes me feel rather powerful…hehe.
Pollo Campero!!! This is the most amazingly wonderful restaurant in the whole entire world. It’s like a fast food restaurant, because you can drive thru, and they have a “to go” counter, but they also serve you at your seat, like any other restaurant. They have the best chicken ever. Period. (Pollo Campero translates to Country Chicken.) If you ever go to Latin America, find a Pollo Campero!
I also love the Central Park, because there I can do my two favorite things, eat ice cream, and do nothing. All over the park, they have guys with Ice Cream Carts, and I made it a habit to buy ice cream at least once a day. It was what I call “livin’ the good life”.
Of course I have to write about AnnaMaria, she is the reason I’m here for goodness sake. She’s sweet, smiles a lot, loves loud music, and attention! She has a new trick, whenever she wants our attention, she does a fake cough. It’s rather hilarious actually. She’ll be lying on the floor, and Lily and I will be watching T.V., and she’ll “fake cough” until we play with her. Of course when she gets what she wants, she just grins. She knows we’re rapped around her little finger.
Overall, my trip has been great. I don’t exactly want to come home yet, but it will be great to see everybody again. Good-bye for now!
