I’ve been so very sad at the news of the Steven Curtis Chapman Family. As many of you have heard, his 5 yr old Chinese daughter, Maria, was tragically killed in the family driveway last Wednesday. Steven is an internationally known Christian music artist and is a graduate of the high school Claire and Ollie will attend in August. His family has been a huge blessing to the adoption community. After having three biological children, they adopted three girls from China. They have done a lot of outreach to China and not only inspired many to adopted, but created a foundation to assist with adoption expenses. I don’t know them personally, but my heart aches for them. I can’t begin to understand the grief they are experiencing. However, as Christians, we know that Maria is in heaven and she will be reunited with her loving family in God’s time!

We have baseball this weekend and then we are FREE for the summer. This is the first time in a decade!!!!! Let the record state that I think sports are important, but I am quite thrilled to spend the summer with my family. When all three of the “big kids” were playing ball it was literally an every night commitment. We’re contemplating such adventures as camping, canoeing, theme parks….oh my!
School is nearly over! Awards day was yesterday. Lily had a top reading award, Ollie academic and history teams, and Claire was the top choral student in her grade. It was fun to see all the awards going to kids we’ve known for so long now. Today is 8th Grade Graduation. WOOHOO! Claire and Ollie seem very comfortable with moving on to high school. If only Mom could feel so comfortable with that!
