AnnaMaria LOVES tea parties.
Happy Mother’s Day! I’m so very thankful that we are all at home as a family today! This time last year, AnnaMaria was still in Guatemala and we were preparing to go there on our final trip.
I know this day can be sad for those waiting for their children to come home, those who have lost mothers or children and those who are childless. My heart goes out to them.
I’ve been thinking of other adopting moms I’ve met in person and online during the last 18 months. There are so many new friendships. We’ve shed tears and shouts of joy together. The drama that sometimes accompanies adoption makes me appreciate this day all the more.
Rosario, AnnaMaria’s birthmom, has been on my mind a lot lately, too. She was her first mother and without her we wouldn’t have our little princess. I hope she sometimes thinks of AnnaMaria, but I also hope she is at peace.
Jeff gave me a VERY SPECIAL MOTHER’S DAY GIFT! He is typically a last minute shopper and we don’t make a big thing of giving each other gifts, so I was surprise when he told me he already had my gift several days ago…..In my honor, he made a donation that will feed 50 Guatemalan children for a month! I can’t even say it aloud without tearing up. I’m very touched.
Happy Mother’s Day to our wonderful Grandmas and Aunts and all the Moms in our lives!
