Random Stuff

We are really enjoying the farm this summer. The weather has been pretty pleasant and even when it’s terribly hot, the railroad track is covered with trees and cool. We are making moves toward having a pond dug and hope that project can start in July.

Jeff went out early this morning and quickly picked two quarts of blackberries. They are everywhere! AnnaMaria loves to eat them right off the briar.

Claire is on a two week break from soccer, so her soccer shoes have been airing out in the garage for a few days. For such a pretty girl, she sure has some “deadly” smelling feet. We now have proof….poor innocent froggie!

Grandpa Richard and Grandma Janice came to visit us last Saturday. AnnaMaria had fun giving Grandpa her stuffed animals until he fell asleep. Jeff had a good nap across the room to…good male bonding!

Katie and Jess, our 5 yr old twin nieces from Atlanta were in town for a few days. They came over with Grandma and Grandpa D on Sunday for Claire and Ollie’s 14th birthday lunch. The girls spent the night with us on Tuesday and we got to take them to see the neighbors fainting goats. Ollie made a bit of a sudden move and one of the goats fell over. He got right back up, but it was pretty funny.

More randomness…while I was playing with Katie in Jess in the playroom, I felt something under the sofa cushion. Upon further inspection, I found all sorts of treasures and trash. Yuck! Jeff assured me he had cleaned this out prior to the move, but apparently he wasn’t brave enough to go really deep. Ha.

Lily has had a rough week. She started developing a bit of a rash on her face on Monday. We thought she was just pink from a day at the water park, but it kept getting worse. By Wednesday morning her face was swollen to the point that she could only see out of one eye. The doctor thinks it is contact dermatitis from poison ivy or something similar. She has never had anything like that before. I had a bad poison ivy reaction when Lily was born (a little too much nesting in the form of fence row cleaning) and we really thought she might be immune. We don’t know how she could have gotten it on her face, but the doctor suggested she might have gotten it from petting the puppies. It is getting better now. Lesson learned…..we are all so critical of ourselves and our looks, but we should really, REALLY be grateful for what we have and how we look. It could be much worse!
