Another full night of sleep! Well, except for AnnaMaria coughing a bit. The kids weren’t too thrilled about getting up for school and Ollie was especially annoyed that he had homework! But, they all seem to be enjoying school. They are highly annoyed when Mom knows a Spanish word they don’t know, but that doesn’t happen often.
Lily and I enjoyed the morning with AnnaMaria. I didn’t manage to get dressed until mid-morning. It’s funny how quickly we forget the effort involved with a baby. It’s not hard work or annoying, just time consuming!
Lily is a great helper. I had her get a bowl from the kitchen and heat some water for a sponge bath for AnnaMaria (the new pre-soaped washcloths are great!) One of the housekeepers offered me something, but unfortunately I had no idea what she was saying! She showed up a few minutes later with a baby bath tub. How wonderful!!!
We all took a horse and carriage ride this afternoon which was fun, but rough on cobblestone streets. We visited Santa Domingo, a former monastery and current hotel.
Back at the hotel…Claire has been reading, Lily and Ollie playing rummy with a new friend. The older kids and I went McDonalds for carryout. It was dark and the street vendors were just packing up. We ran into a little girl who tried to sell us a necklace. Claire is certain it’s the same girl she bought a necklace from in a neighboring town. The little girl said she needed money for school. Who knows if that is true, but we all wished we could just pay for her school, so she didn’t have to be on the streets all day. The kids said her mom was likely watching from close by, as they had met her before.
